1. Statement of general policy
Th.es Enterprises Ltd accepts its legal duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. As the employer, I, Henry Chipantasig, am committed to:
Providing adequate control of health and safety risks arising from my electrical installation, inspection, testing and maintenance work.
Consulting with any employees or subcontractors on matters affecting their health and safety.
Maintaining safe plant and equipment, including test instruments, ladders, steps, hand tools and power tools.
Ensuring safe handling and use of substances (e.g. soldering materials, cleaning agents, cable pulling lubricants).
Providing clear information, instruction and supervision to any staff, apprentices or trainees.
Ensuring all persons working for Th.es Enterprises Ltd are competent and receive adequate training.
Preventing accidents and work-related ill health.
Maintaining safe and healthy working conditions on every client site.
Reviewing and revising this policy as necessary, at least annually.

2. Responsibilities

All employees (if any) must:
Cooperate with supervisors on health and safety matters.
Not interfere with anything provided for their health and safety.
Take reasonable care of their own health and safety.
Report all health and safety concerns to Henry Chipantasig.
3. Risk assessments
Risk assessments will be carried out by Henry Chipantasig before starting any new type of work, and when work activities change.
Significant findings will be recorded in a separate Risk Assessment Register (kept in the company vehicle and office).
Control measures identified will be implemented before work begins.
Risk assessments will be reviewed annually or sooner if legislation changes or an incident occurs.
Typical hazards assessed for electrical work include:
Electric shock, arc flash, working at height (ladders/steps), manual handling (cables, consumer units), asbestos in existing buildings, slips/trips on site, and tools/equipment.
4. Safe plant and equipment (including test instruments)
Henry Chipantasig is responsible for identifying all equipment needing maintenance.
My multifunction tester (calibrated annually) and voltage tester (GS 38 compliant) are maintained according to manufacturer's instructions.
Ladders and steps are inspected before each use.
Any fault found with plant or equipment will be reported to Henry Chipantasig immediately and the equipment taken out of use until repaired.
5. Safe isolation procedure (key NICEIC requirement)
Before starting any electrical work:
Identify the circuit or equipment to be worked on.
Obtain permission to isolate (if required).
Use a GS 38 compliant voltage tester or two-pole voltage detector.
Prove the tester on a known live source (e.g. proving unit or known live circuit).
Isolate the circuit (remove fuse, turn off MCB, open isolator, lock-off where possible).
Test again on the isolated circuit to confirm dead.
Prove the tester again on the known live source.
Apply lock-off kit and warning labels if working away from the isolation point.
Begin work.
This procedure will be followed every time without exception.
6. Control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH)
Henry Chipantasig will identify all substances used (e.g. solder flux, cleaning solvents, cable lubricant).
COSHH assessments will be completed and relevant Safety Data Sheets (SDS) kept in the company vehicle.
Where possible, hazardous substances will be replaced with safer alternatives.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be used where necessary (e.g. gloves, eye protection).
7. Information, instruction and supervision
The Health and Safety Law poster is displayed at the company office (67c Granville Park).
Health and safety advice is available from Henry Chipantasig (or external competent person if required).
Any young workers, trainees or apprentices will be properly instructed, supervised and given specific risk assessments.
When working under another employer's control (as a subcontractor), I will request relevant site health and safety information before starting.

I, Henry Chipantasig, hold current qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds 2365, 2391, 18th Edition, ECS card). Any employee will receive training appropriate to their role.
9. Accidents, first aid and work-related ill health
First aid box is kept in the company vehicle (67c Granville Park base).
Appointed person: Henry Chipantasig (no formal first aid certificate currently – if required for a contract, external first aider will be arranged).
Accident book (BI 510) is kept in the company vehicle.
All accidents and cases of work-related ill health will be recorded.
Reporting under RIDDOR 2013: Henry Chipantasig is responsible for reporting any reportable accident, disease or dangerous occurrence to the enforcing authority (HSE or local council).
10. Emergency procedures – fire and evacuation
On each client site, I will identify fire exits, assembly points and fire extinguishers before starting work.
If I discover a fire: sound the alarm, evacuate, call 999.
If working alone (typical), I will carry a fully charged mobile phone for emergencies.
Fire risk assessment will be carried out for my own office/premises (67c Granville Park) – escape route is via the main entrance.
11. Monitoring and review
To check that safe working practices are being followed, I will:
Carry out spot checks on my own work.
Review risk assessments before each job.
Inspect tools, ladders and test equipment monthly.
Henry Chipantasig is responsible for investigating any accident or work-related sickness absence.
This policy will be reviewed annually or when legislation changes, whichever is sooner.
12. Working alone and working at height
Working alone: I will inform a contact person (e.g. family member or office contact) of my location and estimated finish time for higher-risk jobs.
Working at height: Ladders will be used only for low-risk, short-duration work. For work above 2 metres where practicable, alternative access equipment (e.g. scaffold tower or mobile platform) will be considered.
13. Monitoring of working conditions
We will check working conditions and practices by:
Monthly inspection of all test equipment, ladders and power tools.
Annual calibration of multifunction tester (record kept).
Before each job: visual check of client's premises for asbestos, water, fire risks.
Annual review of this policy.

There is a significant change in work activities.
A reportable accident occurs.
